Annual Subscription

Even though we wish that everyone could stay healthy or never get hurt, we all know this just does not happen. Subscribing to Duncannon Emergency Medical Services, Inc. covers emergency treatment and transport to a hospital. It also covers the cost of Advanced Life Support (paramedics) by West Shore Advanced Life Services, Inc.

        As a subscriber of our services, we will accept your insurance company's payment and will not bill you for the balance of the bill. If you do not subscribe, you will be responsible for the remainder of the bill or the total bill if no insurance payment is made.

This is an example of an average trip on the ambulance with ALS attending:  

        Ambulance Cost:      $900

        Paramedic Cost:       $800

        Total:                          $1,700

  Most insurance companies only pay 80%:       $1,360

  Non-subscriber balance:                                      $340

  Subscriber balance:                                               $0

 

Keep in mind that many people are transported several times throughout the year, so your savings can be considerable!

Subscriptions and contributions help provide funding for quality ambulance service by:

*  Purchasing and maintaining ambulances

*  Continuing education for our volunteers

*  Purchasing medical supplies

*  Allowing the ambulance to keep up with current technologies

Without your support, there would be no money for the items listed above. These items enable our personnel to provide the quality care our community deserves.

*  We have provided ambulance services since 1954

*  We expanded into Duncannon E.M.S., Inc. in 1987

*  We were dispatched to over 1000 emergency calls last year and are responsible for standing-by at many local school activities and community events.

*  Unlike other ambulance companies, we receive only minimal municipal funds to support our operation. We rely on revenue from billed ambulance calls, fundraisers, and subscription funds from you.

*  For our personnel to maintain their certification and provide quality care, they are required to attend many classes throughout the year.

*  Duncannon EMS has two ambulances and two QRS (Quick Response Service) vehicles to respond to emergencies when needed.

*  We cover not only Duncannon and New Buffalo Boroughs, all of Watts Township, most of Penn and Wheatfield Townships as well as part of Reed Township Dauphin County.
